In a recent study it has been shown that aerobic training promotes muscle growth in older adults.

In a review by Adam Konopka and Β Matthew Harber, they concluded that aerobic workouts increase muscle protein synthesis, enhanced mitochondria and decreased muscle protein breakdown.

When performed properly, in older adults it shows similar resultsΒ to weight training.
