How did you get started with fitness & bodybuilding? What were the defining moments that have guided you towards the fitness & bodybuilding lifestyle?

I was fat as a kid, and was teased very often due to my weight. A friend suggested me to join a gym to lose weight. Instead of losing weight I got interested in lifting and since then am in love with it.

jd5Where does your motivation and inspiration stem from? What keeps you going to push harder?

I can’t stand the thought of me of getting fat and ugly again. People say their best years are when they are young. I was to look ripped at 60, how many people would be able to do that? A few. Well I will be one of them.

What workout routine has worked best for you?

I have always laid more focus on myofibrillar growth and hence heavy weight and low reps have been working fine for me till now, but being a natural after a certain point of time, you can’t do that anymore, you have to focus on the sarcoplasmic aspect as well, no one cares about the excuses, they want bigger and better. That’s what am doing now, mixing good old fashioned volume training as well as the more recent light weights baby approach for optimum hypertrophy.
jd4What is your favorite muscle group to train?

That would be my arms and legs.

What is your approach to nutrition?

Nutrition is the king. It doesn’t matter what diet I follow, whatever it is, I make sure I stick to it.
What is your supplementation like?

Just the 4 things

  • Creatine monohydrate
  • L-Glutamine
  • Whey protein
  • And a good BCAA

jd10What is your cardio routine like? Do you prefer to use HIIT or SSCV?

I don’t do cardio, hate it to be honest. HIIT is kickass and it’s fun sometimes, but steady state is a big no for me.

What are your future bodybuilding / fitness goals?

I’ll be competing in Musclemania coming September for which am already training with Team Wild. Am also currently pursuing sports nutrition from ISSA, for what it’s worth. In the long term I see myself as a nutrition coach, am not a heavy duty guy nor do I intend to be one. Fitness and looking good is my primary aim. That being said, I don’t think I have the genetics to be like one of those big guys.

jd3What advice and tips would you give to new beginners as well as well-established competitors?

Read as much as you can. Don’t follow the league, try to be different, also no need to achieve perfection. Our imperfections are what makes us unique 😉
