Every day is an arm day

One of the biggest criticisms we hear about people using the gym regularly is that every day is an arm day. That’s right, it’s especially directed at those guys that are built on top, but completely neglect their legs. This can make their bodies really out of proportion with a huge top and skinny chicken legs at the bottom. To avoid this try an online coaching session to ensure you get to grips with leg days. Your swimming trunks will thank you for it.

You spend more time posing in the mirror than burning calories

This one is for both the girls and boys. You would think that going to the gym means getting focused on your work out. But there are a few peacocks that prefer to gaze into the mirror rather than working up a sweat. If over half your gym time is spent lifting weights in front of a mirror then you may want to re-evaluate your routine. I am certain you could be using your time in a more efficient way and seeing some kickass results.

You go in with a full face of makeup

This one is for the ladies. There’s nothing wrong with looking your best, but when you’re working out, but it does need to be practical. If you are aiming to work up a good sweat, then wearing a full face of make-up isn’t the best option. Firstly, it stops you sweating properly in the facial area and can make it easy overheat.  Secondly, while you are sweating your perfect face of makeup can end up melting off, not a great look! Next time try a natural face of making when working out.

Your gym kit is a bit ‘small.’

The next most popular thing that we hear people having a good giggle at the gym about is if your gym kit is a bit small. That’s right; you are exercising in public, so it’s a good idea to get a kit that fits pretty well and preserves your modesty. This applies to both men and women.  Guys if you are doing lunges make sure that your shorts cover everything they need to! Ladies, treadmills remain the most used gym equipment, make sure that you are wearing a supportive sports bra, while running!

You spend ages on each machine

weights-664766_960_720Lastly, one of the most common mistakes at the gym is spending ages on each and every machine. This marks you out as a gym newbie and is not an efficient use of your time or energy. To be effective your program needs to contain both cardio and resistance, but that doesn’t mean you have to work every machine.  A good way of doing this is to work HIIT training into your training plan. HITT a great way of burning calories in a short amount of time by working smarter not harder. It operates by using selective items of gym equipment and doing short bursts of intense activity on them.
