Sometimes you’ll hear people say they are dieting but not seeing the expected results. As per a post by Lean Bodies Consulting on Facebook, we thought you’d want to consider the following if you are not leaning out as expected when dieting. We take no credit for this piece, simply would like you to benefit from it!
If it has calories, it counts! Something to think about, from the Curls & Whey Training page:
“If it has calories, it counts. If it doesn’t have calories, but isn’t water, it likely has calories.
If you are following a plan to the letter and not seeing results, you may want to look at the amount of “freebies” you are using.
Some examples of “freebies” that can really add up:
Cooking Spray-7 calories per 1 second spray
Splenda-4 calories/ packet 96 calories/cup
Stevia in the Raw-5 calories/packet
Nectresse-4 calories/packet
Over the top amounts of fibrous veggies-10-70c/cup average of about 30calories
Walden Farms Products-30-35 calories per bottle
Miracle Noodles-8 calories per 125g
SF mints/gum-3-5calories a piece
Eyeballing your portions-calories vary based on food/accuracy
Nutritional supplements and vitamins-calories vary (I have seen 10c/pill)
Guar Gum- 20 calories per 7g
Xanthum Gum-30 calories per 9g
Fiber-2 calories per gram
Little bites and tastes-calories vary
SF/FF pudding mix-25-35 calories in 8g
Now, none of these may seem bad in isolation, but very few people only use the serving size or just one product. This list is also not exhaustive and there are other things out there to sabotage your goals. It may seem like I am being overly finicky here, but a calorie is a calorie and your body does count them. I am not saying never use these, just use moderation.
I would hate to see my clients work so hard at being 100% only to spin their wheels because of too many “extras”. If you are not sure that this is an issue for you, cut them out for two weeks and see.”
