A recent recent Japanese study has found that that people who slept longer (7-9 hours), had lower BMI’s than those that slept less than these figures.

Measurements were made using CT scans, which can precisely measure fat levels around the body, including organs.

They stated that age, physical activity, smoking and drinking did not influence the relationship.

So it appears, the longer you sleep, the lower the BMI you may have.   Researchers have however said they are unsure why this may be, so it is something they need to investigate further.
