Well there is two schools of thought for this and it depends which camp you fall into!
For most people, its fine. Those just looking to get in shape for the summer, for a holiday etc. Short term goals. But one really must as an athlete (if thats what you are) look at the longer term picture – actually overall health.
Certainly one may look healthy, be lean and heck, even ripped but this does not mean is entirely healthy. If you were to look at your blood work after months of consuming IIFYM you may be surprised to see the inflammatory markers in your blood and your liver etc taking a kick from having to deal with stressful elements of food.
Take home message? If you take your health seriously and are committed to the sport for years to come, IIFYM is not the best road to follow.
