You have eagerly anticipated Quirt McDonald’s competition debut at the NPC Jay Cutler Classics and we would like to share with you the great news!
YUP! Quirt has become the Men’s Physique Champion, coming first in his category and gained 2nd place in the overall! Not bad for a first timer, hey? Pretty impressive in our books!
But without any further ado, let’s see how Quirt feels about his debut!
Hey Quirt! How was last weekend? How was your experience of being on stage competing for the first time?
An experience of a life time is what it was. Beyond nervous and at moments unsure what was happening or what to do next. This was my very first time on stage, on top of that I was the First Physique competitor out on stage so I had nobody to follow it was my trail to blaze.
I had the chance to win and what an honor that was there were some good competitors on stage and to be chosen among season vets is humbling, the promoters for this show.
Richard Siegelman (IFBB Pro) Remi Bruyniga, and our emcee Melissa Frabbiele (IFBB pro) did a wonderful job and I can’t be happier with how it turned out.
Mark your calendars for August 9th 2014 as well as August 8th 2015 because we will be back bigger and better than ever.
You participated in the NPC Jay Cutler Classic and you had the fortune of standing between not only Jay Cutler himself and also Phil Heath! How was that?
Myself standing at only 146 lbs. at the time, I realized that there legs weigh more than me ha-ha.
Standing in between 500lbs of combined man is something different entirely.
Jay Cutler was a real standup guy, so respectful to us fans; he treated us like lifelong pals.
He acted as if he had all the time in the world for each and every one of us.
He asked me how many shows I did I told him one. We discussed how I felt and what made me decide to compete.
He lent me some good advice both for being on stage, but most of all how to deal with the negativity that comes with this sport. In my eyes Jay Cutler is an outstanding person and a great ambassador to the sport.
As far as Phil Heath I didn’t speak to him too much. An honor to meet them both.
Did you say HI from TEAM WILD?
Jay asked me if I trained alone or with somebody, I preceded to tell him who I go with, and that yall are a fantastic team that are doing so much for me as far as getting me out there and trying to get exposure pushed my way.
He smiled and said it’s the small things with a trainer that matter the most.
What is next in your career as an athlete? Have you got any competitions ahead?
I plan on training for the Next 7 months and getting some good size put on for the upcoming Jay Cutler Desert Classic in April 2014.
Going pro is my main goal but I’m along for the ride and not rushing it.
The road to the top is one less traveled and I’m patient in my journey there.
Many thanks to Quirt for doing us the honor of sharing his story! We are proud to have him as a TEAM WILD ATHLETE!
