For years now, here at Team Wild we’ve said that the best way to build ab’s was to concentrate on your main compound lifts and also when lifting weights into place.

Now our thoughts have been proven to be correct via meta study by Jason Martuscello from University of South Florida and colleagues.  They reviewed 17 studies on core muscle activation.

Multi joint, free weight exercises worked and activated the core best.

Other core movements including (and not limited to) swiss ball movements, wobble boards, BOSU balls etc were shown to be less effective.

Take home note?  Lift your weights as you normally do and let your diet take care of showing your ab’s when you cut.
