Clothes

Firstly, Yoga is made up of body postures, so you need your to be able to move and stretch. That is why it’s important to wear comfortable, flexible clothing. You can choose from a range of yoga tops for your practice. Pick a flowing t-shirt if you are body conscious or a crop top if overheating is a concern. Remember too though that you will need a sweatshirt for when you are warming up and going into Savasana at the end of the session. Then you will be warm and comfy for your meditation.

Blocks

If you are just beginning in your yoga practice, you may be wondering how people can get themselves into all those crazy positions? Well, the truth is some of it is genetic. Some people joints are just way more flexible than others. The rest is incremental work done over long periods of time.

For those of us that can’t quite touch the floor with your hands hem stitching there is a solution. The yoga block. These ensure that you can still get the same amount of support and resistance to get into asana comfortably. It also means you can do it without overstretching and causing yourself any injuries.

Mat

Of, course one of the most important items that you will need for a regular yoga practice is a yoga mat. It’s important here to not get sucked into the buying frenzy that often surrounds the yoga equipment industry. Remember that you mat doesn’t show how serious, or good you are at yoga. Nor will it improve your practice in any revolutionary way. So pick one that is comfortable for you and the type of practice you do.

Attitude

One of the most important thing that you can bring to the mat during your yoga practice is your attitude. Yoga is meant to be a process of self-discovery and opening. Not a race without to see how quick you can master the most difficult moves.

Some suggest that yoga should be a practice of pushing through your mental and physical limitations. But many of us, use it connected with our embodied human experience. We use it to gain a better sense of what it mean to be us. That means pushing through what is comfortable for your body is not a great idea. Remember your yoga should be helping you get your mind in tune with who you really are. It should not be used as an excuse to ignore your body and feelings.
