A Β study conducted between 2000 and 2009 with 3,000 men and women, showed that a Mediterranean style diet had the least increase in abdominal fat.
The diet is high in lean meats, fish, olive oil, veg and fruit.
Whilst no reasoning has been put forward as of yet, it may be seen as one of the ways to set out ones diet if not in a manner of a trained athlete.
