I have received a tone of questions regarding my surgery and thought I should write a post detailing everything related to the surgery: cost, experience, booking, etc.

If you have any questions, feel free to post below and I will do my best to answer them.

Final Results : 2-3 Months / Up to 1 year to see great results

Cost: 2700 Euro (price might vary, see xe.com for conversion rates)

Medical tests required before surgery: blood, nose, throat tests and EKG, Medcom will email you a list to take to your GP or have done privately, whatever you prefer.
For me that was another 200Euro for all the tests + post surgery medication.

What should you do?
Arrive at the date and time specified.

Have with you ready for an overnight stay:

  • Loose buttoned top and pajama (easy to remove and does not go over your head)
  • Underwear
  • Pair or shorts (helpful if you have moles removed from legs at the same time, like in my case)
  • Leggings or tracksuit bottoms
  • Flat / comfortable shoes
  • A travel neck pillow (to stabilize your neck, sleep upright for few weeks)
  • Biotene Gel (for dry mouth)
  • Cotton Buds (to gently clean)
  • Standard manual toothbrush and tooth paste, mouthwash
  • Vaseline (lips will dry out and crack, apply liberally few times per day)

Food, drinks and medication are provided free during your stay but feel free to bring snacks or drinks if you like or if you follow a special diet.

The day after surgery you will have a checkup with Dr Raul Chioibas who will determine if you are fit to be discharged. You will receive a prescription for medication, take as instructed. They cost very little in Romanian pharmacies.

You might have a sore throat (I used Strepsils sugar free), you will feel just discomfort (no real pain with nose jobs), bruising and swelling is normal and not an indicator of complications, it is to be expected.

7 days post surgery splint and stitches are removed (slight discomfort) and after this point you can shower, wash hair and face (gently). After surgery and before the splint and stitches come out you may look after your personal hygiene, wash your body and brush teeth. I was not able to use an electrical toothbrush, only the standard manual brush.

Due to the size of my nose and the extra skin I wore a paper plaster for an entire month post surgery to help the skin stick to the new skeleton / nose shape.
