We often get asked what supplements we buy and use to help our bulking and cutting diets. Which proteins, BCAA’s and fat burners etc. – well here is our current list…

 

Ok, what protein do you currently use?
Well, we are very keen on excellent flavor and high levels of protein being in our shakes, so as a result we use The Protein Works and their Whey Protein Concentrate 80 as our main source of shakes.  Whilst  isolate may be fractionally faster to get in post workout, in the real world we feel the results will be minimal, especially because we use BCAA before and as we workout.

We additionally love the Crossgen Beef Protein from PROZIS, flavor we have sampled is rich dark chocolate. Exquisite!

Sounds like you use pre workouts – which is your fav?
We currently love MusclePharm Assault.  It has 5g BCAA (3:1:2 ratio), 5g creatine and plenty of citrulline giving fantastic pumps.  We also find it gives us good focus and helps push us on when tired.  Best pre workout we’ve used.

So you use BCAA, which one?
We currently use Modern BCAA‘s.  It has an 8:1:1 ratio of the key BCAA’s meaning the key amino Luciene features as the key amino which is responsible for protein synthesis being turned on, in the body.  Its also easy to mix, tasty and good value.

Do you use a fat burner?
Yes we do.  We’ve moved from Gaspari Spirodex to Gaspari Detonate, both very good fat burners.  No come down or crash after using them.

What about essential fatty acids?
We do use them indeed.  5000mg omega-3 per day, 3000mg Primrose oil and to assist fat burning we use CLA at 6000mg a day and L-Carnitine at 3000mg, which helps fat to be used inside the cells as energy.

Surely you use a multivitamin, which one?
Again, yes we do.  It’s called MusclePharm Armor-V and it contains both – a greens capsule (to help with getting essential nutrients into us) and a multivitamin, saving us money in the process from having to buy them separately.

Wow, quite a list, anything else?
They are the core ‘essentials’ but we also use L-Glutamine and Essential Amino Acids as well.   The latter we will begin to incorporate more shortly.
